Business - Plan 2
I'm reorganising my websites, with the aim on turning my hobby into a business, and produce Sciror (game background) and Spheres of War (ruleset). This is a follow up from Plan 1 from a while back. I'm streamlining so I am not spread so thin.
As always, I'll post everything I create for Sciror and Spheres of War on my websites for free. I'll create PDFs for download (edit: SoW Tactical Fragment 1 is now out), and compile related PDFs into eBooks and Printed Books for sale. For example: all the SoW Fragments will be collected together into a rulebook.
I've put up a Patreon account, which I add rewards to later, probably free eBooks? At the moment I think of my Patreon as a 'tips jar', to support my work. At the moment I have an empty hat, but with a bit more busking I hope to change that. Here is what I am planning;
The Hub
This website, 'philhammer.com', I see as the creative-engine. The hub where all the design work is done. I'll use this as a place to post designer's notes on Sciror and Spheres of War, where I explain what I'm up to. All the initial ideas and concepts go here. Everything is then re-crafted in the light of feedback. Ideas that have merit I'll move over from the blog to pages, and then to the other sites (Sciror, and Spheres of War) when complete in a presentable 'final' form as an eBook or Printed (Print-On-Demand) book. Both will be under the heading of: 'Philip Sibbering Presents'. If something has to be remade, I'll bring it back here as a blog post.
Latest ideas: The Blog
The Rules Engine
The Spheres of War website (spheresofwar.com) will present my finished ruleset. Historical in nature. There will be no explanation of the design process or justification, that will be handled back at the hub. My aim;
Fast intuitive combat system based on paring, semi-autonomous combatants, inspired by western martial arts, and teaching the fundamentals of real combat.
Mission of Spheres of War
Pages on Spheres of War will link back to philhammer.com for comment. The link back with be to the posts and pages on philhammer.com that correspond to the Spheres of War page. Clarifications worked out on philhammer.com will be added to spehresofwar.com, either as rewrites or appended FAQ. This way philhammer.com has the original and all the feedback, a record of the design process, while spheresofwar.com has the final version.
Note: My websites community.warspike.com and warspike.com, which I used for the beta rules, will be retired, and the name held in reserve for a future project. For now it is still accessible, and shows where Spheres of War is heading.

Game Background
Sciror presents my sci-fi game setting, and one alternative fantasy version of the timeline branching out from the Psidemic. Sciror is based on my explanations in Philverse. There are eight era.
Sciror will have a similar setup as spheresofwar.com, where all pages link back to philhammer.com for discussion.
Sciror harks back to my childhood dreams and love of Warhammer 40K. To quote the first line of the opening paragraph of the 40K rulebook;
If you ever left the cinema or turned from the tv screen, wishing that you could invent your own death-stars, storm-troopers, whirring ornithopters, and wild-eyed heroes then this is the game for you!
Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader 1987
I want that. Sciror is a game setting where you are encouraged to create your own game worlds. In this sense, Sciror is a framework. The severn era presented are examples for you to play with. The Sciror website will also include the Sphere of War mods that cover sci-fi weaponry, psionics, and magic.

Philverse
I'll leave Philverse one this site, even though I will not be presenting any saleable Warhammer products. It will be for fun alone. In some ways, my ramblings on 40K are like 'designer's research notes' as they led to Sciror. Reading through Philverse will give you an idea of where Sciror will be heading (Psidemic is like Space Hulk, and Stare into the Abyss is like 40K). Of course I did not design anything for 40K aside from some covers, and some of my background concepts that crept into the books through my discussions with authors. Some books have dedications! 😛

Hearing feedback is very important to me in developing my ideas. Much of my designs are inspired, and crafted, by chatting to fans on forums before snowballing into a full concepts posted on this website. I would like to thank all those who have contributed critiques and participated in discussions over the years. If you would like join in, you are most welcome!
